Wabi Ways
The translation and ethos of Wabi Sabi is all about finding the beauty in imperfection ... it centres around Buddhist principles that nothing lasts forever and nothing is totally finished. When this ethos is transformed to interiors materials are mainly raw natural products in neutral tones and co existing in harmony wherever possible with nature.

This home has all the usual rooms you would expect to find, plus an indoor garden room. The home is mostly open plan and meanderers through one living area to another. A central passageway to most areas also has a small office area. The tone as you would expect from this theme are neutral & muted.

A small entrance leads directly into the open plan area central to this home.
Hallway
The central passageway houses bookcases, an office area and strategic shelving and seating.
Pale woods, natural brick tiles and soft terracotta walls are the mainstay of this homes delicate palette.

A door from the kitchen leads to a simple side terrace area.
Kitchen,Living and Dining Room
Kitchen with breakfast bar in mellow neutral tones and a hint of buttercream yellow.

This section of the passage leads through to the sitting room.

A small office area tucked discreetly into the folds of the passage.
Bathroom
The materials in this bathroom area are the epitome of Wabi Sabi styling.
The bathroom is free flowing from the bedroom and has a low partition wall for privacy.
Garden room
The garden room brings nature into the home and has a glassed skylight ceiling.
Courtyard
The courtyard area leads to the homes entrance. This small area is simple but quintessentially Wabi Sabi in its look and tranquility.
Bedroom
More natural fabrics, neutral tones and gentle sunlight to create this simple sleeping area.
The bath area is semi obscured by a partial wooden screen and the toilet area is hidden discreetly from view.
Pretty collection of Wabi Sabi type accessories complete the look.

Ohh Karen! What a fantastic build! I would love to have this house with all its hidden gems and alcoves! That inside garden area is a dream! I loved how you constructed double arches in spots, the front entrance is gorgeous, and the whole feel is so peaceful and pretty! I always have so much fun looking at your details -- like a vase in the kitchen that I think you had resurfaced with roof tiles to look SO cool! The bathroom is so well laid out and all of your finishes are so beautifully coordinated. Beautiful home!!

This design is, along with Irina's, the one I like the most. I think she retains the wabi sabi spirit without falling into an overloaded rustic. You have created a very elegant and pleasant atmosphere, where you can enjoy the imperfect in a placid and quiet way. A very beautiful design

Entrance with archs that open view on indoor are wonderful! I like your choise about equal walls and floors. Outdoor is gorgeous. Great job, my friend!
