Master Bedroom with private access to shared bathroom, and his and hers reach in closets.
His and Hers closets
Family Room
A sunny reading nook for one, or three gives a bit of privacy while allowing you to still feel connected to the rest of the home.
Dining Room
The new dining room leads into the addition. To the right a short passageway accesses the kitchen with an opening to the existing hallway behind the camera.
Keeping the dining room close to the kitchen makes it easy to carry food and dishes between them. The small closet in the middle houses the heating/cooling unit and water heater. Existing hallway is seen to the right.
A family room open to the sun! If dark colored flooring is used passive solar gain should be substantial on sunny winter days.
Kitchen
Dishwasher under the island, just across from the sink makes it convenient to load and unload. A small bar at the island allows visitors to chat while the kitchen in use.
Creating a separate dining room frees up space for an island. This increased counter space will become more important as the kids get older and help with cooking more. The island also serves to separate the work space from the traffic into the dining room.
Bathroom
Shared bathroom, accessible from the Master Bedroom and from the Family Room Nook. Divided for more privacy when used by multiple family members. Sink, toilet, and tub share a room, but not a view.
Storage closet between sink and toilet area.
Nook
Laundry closet between the family room and kitchen keeps new plumbing smaller, and provides easy access to washer/dryer.
