Metropolitan: deep, dark, delicious
This is a city apartment designed for a client with high standards and specific taste. She's single and has a good corporate career. She loves space and wanted the spaces to be deep and dark and luxurious. She has a wide collection of art pieces which she wanted to be displayed. They made best of the views onto the city by using the first floor for the living spaces and then used the exact area on the second floor for the bedroom area. The landing space was used as a TV lounge. This house is all about the lady who occupies it and her needs and not so much about catering for guests.
The challenge set for this design was to work on customized ceilings as it was a requirement of the client. So please follow them from room to room and see how they created extra depth of dimension and lighting in the spaces.
The closets was seamlessly fitted into special alcoves that was planned for them. The bathroom door visible in the picture and please see the impressive trayed ceiling.
This painting is one of the home owner's favorites and from it the color palette of the apartment was derived. Deep dark charcoals and blacks, and the the unexpected burnt sienna and soft whites. Like staring into the flames!
The bed was surrounded by a wall of shiny black acrylic and inlayed with a special wall feature from soft white and a rich gold. The rest of the room was played off against those feature wall.
Mind how the owner's own art collection is used throughout the apartment to create the luxury atmosphere.
See the exquisite stitching details on the bed frame.
There she is.....calling you to enter the space!
On the landing space is this lounge area. Again the same color palette of fire and charcoal and with the lovely art collection of the owner contributing.
In this apartment even the light fittings was chosen for their aesthetical value....contributing not only towards wonderful mood lighting, but also added arty interest.
Corporate career also means one is never too far from the laptop.......
The interesting paneled walls with the corner cabinets was designed for work space but also for the television.
This is the stairs coming up.....
Under the cabinets was extra seating stored in the form of specially designed ottomans.
This is the picture where the color scheme comes together......deep charcoal, cool white and fiery burnt sienna!
Black in the kitchen.....that is what the client wanted and that is what she got......and it looks deep and dark and delicious!!
Flowers was spread throughout the apartment just to show off a little soft side of the owner.....
Look at that blazing fire.....and feel the warmth of it embracing you when you enter the room. Dark walls to create this wonderful cozy atmosphere.....Also, see the color of the acrylic coffee table echoing the fire!
The most gorgeous coffee table and definitely and art piece on it's own!
On the back wall more of the owners art displayed!
The soft white of the lounge chairs bringing a calmness in the room....and are in form and shape art pieces on their own.
And of course please don't miss the ceiling construction.

The panorama was taken in the night view to show off how incredible the play of light is. Don't miss out on it!
There is something so peaceful and calm and inviting in this dining room. It reminds me of the saying Keep calm and.....carry on! I can imagine myself sitting there and looking out into the view. Coffee and biscotti!
The old gold on the chairs taking hands with the color theme of the house! And see the wonderful stitching detail on the back rest of the chairs.
In the lobby this little reading corner at the back of the stairs. a Little hidden space.....but worth the while to discover.
This is the view peeping from the back of the stairs to the other side. The old gold ottoman is oversized and so comfortable to sit and and read or to take your coat off at the end of the day and hang it into the coat closet on the right.
a Little reception area in the entrance hall. As always every piece of furniture tell a story of a world of beauty in art.
The window frame with it's view...so perfectly place to provide not only light in the deep dark, but to serve as and art piece of it's own.
This is the night vision of the gorgeous vanity area.
The bathroom is spacious and luxurious! It was divided into three areas. On this side in the picture is the shower and toilet area with the vanity in the middle.
Gold was used with the gorgeous marble pattern and the deepness of black mosaic tiles.
On the other side of the bathroom is this free standing bath and the luxury of soft sheepskin rugs and the warm glow of good lighting.
In this picture you can see the bespoke design of the vanity area with the marble slab also providing a shelf in the toilet area.
On either sides of the bathroom there were this tall narrow windows fitted and done with frosted glass.
Really Fantasticc!!!

This is perfect you really managed g to balance light and dark, weirdly enough the house does not look dark at all despite its dark features. This is really beautiful.
