Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you?
Genesis 3:9
Kevin lifts up an old board in the garden that has been lying on the ground for a long time. Astonished, he sees that many small animals like woodlice, beetles and worms have been living underneath. But as soon as the light hits them, they rush away. As quickly as possible they hide again. They flee from the light to find safety in the darkness again.
The Bible explains that people behave in the same way: “Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19). Jesus Christ had come into the world as a bright light to enlighten all. But men hated this light and wanted to extinguish it because it revealed their sinful lives. That is why they crucified Him.
After His death and resurrection, Christ returned to heaven. Since then, the gospel of grace has brought light to a dark world. The message of the cross offers forgiveness and eternal life to guilty people. Isn’t this a ray of hope?
Have the courage to let the light of the gospel shine into your life! It not only reveals your guilt before God, but also shows you how you can get right with Him. Believe in the Lord Jesus who died for you on the cross so that you might be cleansed from the filth of sin.
