Trendy inspiration
The challenge for this design was to use the 2023 design trends as inspiration. In research I came upon the following design elements that stood out and was used as the main inspiration: Monochrome color used throughout, the use of warm wood and using old and vintage furniture pieces, patterns, textures and accent walls, dark countertops and the use of exquisite handmade Zellige tiles. For me there's always a few elements that will always be part of my designs no matter what any trend will forecast ad that is the use of natural elements like plants and natural sustainable material.

Lounge
This lounge was done in a mezzanine style in the living area and are also connected to the second floor where two guest bedrooms and bathroom are.
Stairs leading up to the mezzanine lounge.
The use of arched alcoves and doorways a nod to the trend forecast for the year. You'll find them throughout the house. Vintage furniture pieces was used and a little music corner was created here.

Living Room
At the bottom of the stairs are the downstairs living area and it's on the first floor of the house, connected to the dining and kitchen areas.
Arched doorways and the use of a polished concrete for a seamless floor.
Rounded furniture pieces are also very much on trend and was used throughout the house, paired with lovely vintage wood pieces. And of course by now you guessed the monochrome palette is blue on blue on blue.
On the surrounding wall on the fireplace you'll see the most exquisite handmade Zellige tiles that was made for this house. You'll find examples of that spread out through the house.

Another trend on the table was the use of accent rugs and that was the perfect way to break up all the blues while adding yet more in the form of texture and pattern. To not shy away from pattern was the challenge, but rather to embrace it and use it to your advantage.
Master Bedroom
This is the floating staircase leading up to the third floor which was made into a complete master suite with an office area, bathroom, dressing room and bedroom.
The office reception area on the third floor with a beautiful view out the window and from the little balcony.
Artwork plays a very important and specific role in this house to break up color but also adding more blue and more interest to the eye.
The window on the side are opening into the triple volume staircase hall.
Dressing room.
This is the entrance to the bedroom.
In this house one of the design elements that was used throughout was the designing of bespoke platforms and built ins to add dimension and interest to the rooms.
Also the use of interesting textures on feature walls like in this case by the bed.
A little bling in all the gold touches throughout the house and the smallest of ode to the era of the art deco in the bedside lamp.
They did not shy away to use oversized art pieces where the space was calling out for it. Look at the impact this piece made.
Second Bedroom
Second smaller guest bedroom.
Again beautiful artwork and the good use of a textured accent wall.
Bedroom
Third of the bedrooms whit it's dreamy blues and the smallest hint of pink.
Master Bathroom
In the master bathroom the use of the handmade tiles was the main attraction and all the other pieces was chosen to play off and compliment each other.
Beautiful bespoke black stone vanity with all it's bling showed off perfectly against the handmade finger tiles.
Dining Room
In the dining room the use of the handmade tiles in the arched alcoves was a triumph. Add to it the use of modern dining furniture and the warm wood of the vintage dresser.....
And of course the art.....
Kitchen
See the use of handmade tiles in the kitchen backslash.
The kitchen was given it's own dedicated spot in the house and not like in the most houses lately as part of an open plan living and dining room.
The outdoors....
The pool area was fitted on the level of the second floor of the house and the one bedroom on that level flows out into the pool area.
In the hallway there was more of the Zellige tiles laid on the floor making for the most magnificent effect.

Second bathroom again showcasing the use of handmade tiles to the best effect.

The stairs that are leading up from the first floor to the second floor was made into a feature by the use of warm wood interlaid with handmade mosaic tiles. Oversized artworks to the best effect.
The staircase was designed to be used as seating......
This is the garden on the first floor level. They used the handmade tiles with great effect on the floor and paired it with the warm wood and the rustic brick effect.
Hallway
Oh the lighting in the hallway.......
Floating staircase leading up to the master suite, but also the hallway used to it's best by the kittle seating area at the end of it.
And this is the story of the blue house....trendy or not trendy....that is the question my dear! I hope you had a good time touring the house!

What words could do this home justice??? Outstandingly beautiful... exceptionally accomplished and just the most stunning home to have the privilege of seeing.!!! Ohh Hester I echo Winnies sentiments in the previous comment you seem to elevate your standards with each design you produce. Glorious colours throughout in a home that flowed from each sensational area to the next. Each and every room was just stunning, That master bedroom and both bathrooms have to be called my favourites ...but every shot made me gasp with delight and admiration. INCREDIBLE WORK BRAVO!!!

Ohhh my goodness!!! I don't know how you keep surprising me but you somehow keep elevating your already outstanding game! This is one of the most gorgeous homes I've ever seen! I love that whole mezzanine level, the fireplace, the beautiful tiles and artwork, ... every corner and level of this house is breathtaking!
