The cafe features outdoor spaces as well as a party room at the back for bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, and other special occasions. The empty room is where the kitchen would be located for the cafe, but I wanted to focus on decorating the spaces that would be enjoyed by customers.
The tables are aligned intentionally with the flower boxes so that from a distance it looks like tabletops of flowers. Being called "Le Jardin" the exterior and interior are filled with flowers.
The modern is already being merged with the old on the exterior. The floor mat, tables, and chairs are very modern, while the lamps are much more traditional.
This is the side patio area. It is another lovely spot to enjoy some tea and desserts, while enjoying the gentle breeze and sunlight.
This is the party room at the back of the cafe. It is set up for a small party of friends to relax and enjoy a catered celebration of all of life's special events.
Again the old and the new are merged with the gilt mirror, flooring, and wall mouldings staying classical, while the furnishings and light fixtures introduce a modern element.
The light fixtures on the left wall again pull in more classical details. These give an added air of femininity to the space with its more modern furnishings.
The art above the fireplace and the mantel surround are a clear display of the marrying of the old and new styles.
This is the bathroom. It is styled to be pampering and relaxing, while keeping in mind a woman's needs. A small table with drawers has tucked away more personal items as may be needed. The stool is a place for a friend to sit and wait, while the glass provides some privacy.
A coat rack is a necessity for women in the restroom. It gives a needed space to hang bags, purses, and coats. the view outside the door leads to the waiting area for the cafe.
Welcome the entrance of the cafe! Being called "Le Jardin" the interior has features that are set to mimic a garden patio area. The stones inserted into the flooring are done so to create a path through the cafe as though one were walking in a garden area.
This the place set aside to wait for a table opening. The moulding on this wall has been painted black to serve as a frame, and the classic herringbone pattern normally found in flooring is moved to the wall to create a backdrop for the hanging plants. The plants add to the garden-like atmosphere.
The shelf features products for sale. Customers who are waiting can peruse these items or look in the glass case for the desserts they are wanting to order. The bathroom is also just a step away to spruce up before friends arrive.
What is tea time with a friend without desserts to share as well?
Here is a much larger view of the cafe space. Flowers are a large theme as are the soft lines created by the curves of the shelf, furniture, and light fixtures. There is a simple elegance to the space without it being too ornate or too modern.
The front counter is a large simple slab of marble. This is a true hallmark of the modern and lets the rest of the ornate details of the space take center stage.
Behind the swinging wrought iron doors would be the kitchen space for waitresses and servers to come and go bringing out orders.
The harshness of the black and white is balanced and made more feminine with golds, creams, and pinks.
Modern and classical art are brought together on this feature wall to celebrate women from every era. The chairs, short black stools, and the bench seating are modern yet still feminine with their curved shapes.
This cafe serves as a space for women to be themselves, enjoy good conversation, celebrations, and friendships with each other.
