Ocean Retreat
This house was planned as a holiday home by the coast. Big sliding doors with shutters was used to enhance the feel of indoor/outdoor living, keeping the spaces open and in touch with the ample outdoor living spaces. They used a stone cladding with grey and blue tones, paired it with rough a cast plaster technique and crisp white wooden siding on the walls. The challenge for this week was to practice the new customized model tools and for the first time managed to get a proper roof on a house. Be it just a flat concrete slab, still feeling like a proud Mama!! The house was planned to provide an open courtyard space into which all the living spaces could flow out and they opened that up into a vast paved area for the pool. The yard continued around the house, forming different garden and seating corners.
This is the courtyard area onto which all doors and windows on this side of the house flow out. And as part of the facade, but also for long nihjts under the stars, this fireplace was fitted.
See how the indoors and outdoors meet each other and live so well together. The stone cladding was used indoors and outdoors on certain walls and it looks great!
The white coping stones and pebbles made a very cool and welcoming picture...and of course all the different seating areas under the trees and by the pool!
The construction of the pool was one of the customized models of the week. Kept it simple, but in touch with what the clients wanted.
The master bedroom doors leading out onto the pool area and the little sitting area next to it!
This gorgeous little corner is where the master bathroom leads out into. A small piece of nature and fresh air for the bathroom.
This veranda with its lovely seating area is at the other side of the house where there's no ocean views. It was created just outside the window of the second bedroom and a little piece of paradise on it's own.
The front entrance of the house with a charming street appeal don't you think?
This is the second bathroom. Spacious and well planned. Fitted with a soaker tub and a big shower. Enjoy the tour of the bathroom over the next few pictures.
The vanity unit and little seating bench was the customized models for this room. And I'm really pleased at how they created exactly the vibe I wanted!
This is the master bathroom which for some reason lost it's title. The big surprise of this bathroom is the curved wall for the shower....covered in the most wonderful granite!
Curved wall and rain shower....what can be better than that!
The client fell in love with the blue tile on the vanity wall. They paired it with the white wooden cladding and the rough stone. And then of course the luxury granite on the shower wall and floor.
Here you can see the little private garden nook outside the bathroom....and what a picture of serene and calm it isn't!
This is the second bedroom and oh so comfortable. Here you can see a reading nook.....and the view out on the garden corner that was planned for this room.
The big find in the 'store' was this bedroom wardrobe with it's built in area for the bed. This one I did not create with a custom model as it was already made and perfect for the space! Throughout the house there was also this play between natural wood textures and white!
This is the master bedroom and here is the view right in front of you while sitting up in bed. The custom build seating area was the model created for this room and it came out really good!
The bedroom has direct access to the outside and the pool area.
In the bedroom they played with different tones of blues and verdigris and again the stone cladding on the wall makes such a statement...but in a calming way! on the bedhead they created wall niches for extra depth and interest in the space.
See how gorgeous the mood was created by the bedside pendant lights.
This is the kitchen......and please mind Sophia the cat and queen of the castle!
There you can see the front entrance to the house while sitting at the kitchen island having a cup of coffee!
And here is the view out into the courtyard while doing the dishes!
By the front door was this little welcoming niche created. The blue china cupboard is the apple of her eye and what is a kitchen without a table?!!! On the right you can see how the kitchen flows into the dining and living space.
You are so welcome! When you enter this door, you leave life outside and step into holiday!!
This is the built in dining room seating that was created with a customized model. With it the biggest dining table that the space could accommodate for that big family gatherings!
This is the view to the outside when sitting on the bench seating.
Moving into the living room area, custom benches were installed to create a seating area on the one side. Through the window is the courtyard visible. They used a combination of blues and natural wood which was once again paired with the wall treatments of stone, wood cladding and rough plaster.
More views of the dining room area.
On the opposite side of the build in seating cabinets were a fireplace wall created by using the customized model tools. As you will see in the rest of the pictures.
Fireplace wall created with extra storage and lights!
Beautiful artwork was selected. Just enough to bring the ambience of ocean into the room. And on the ceiling natural wood beams were fitted for extra atmosphere!
The outside is always calling from the wide open doors!
Sofa! Big and oh so comfortable!! Scoot up! Make space for me!!
Fireplace wall with built in bookshelves. It was provided with light fixtures to create a beautifully lit area.
