    This was a design for the current living room of a friend of mine in America. We were just looking at changing up her furniture and decor to match her style and not altering much of anything else.

    But yes, from what I have seen, I think often in the lower to mid-range homes built in the last 70 or so years in America, moldings were not that popular. It was partly to save on cost and time in constructing the homes, but also I think it was seen as more "modern" aesthetically.
